Church and Community Pastoral Report (October)

Hi Everyone,

Autumn is on its way, one of my favourite times of the year—if only we could then, just skip winter and move straight into spring! An autumn quote for you: ‘If winter is slumber and spring is birth, and summer is life then autumn rounds out to be reflection. It’s a time of year when the leaves are down and the harvest is in and the perennials are gone. Mother Earth just closed up the drapes on another year and it’s time to reflect on what’s gone before’ Mitchell Burgess.

Rob and I have our 38th Wedding Anniversary on 10th October. When we were looking to set the date we had to fit in with the farming cycle, so October, after the Harvest was felt a good time. Although during the best man’s speech Rob’s brother said ‘I won’t keep you long, the cows need milking!’. This year people at KMC have celebrated some special Anniversaries, Silver, Ruby and Golden—what a great example of the institution of marriage for all of our younger couples in Church.

Tuesday Afternoon Fellowship began again in September (pick up a programme from the Hall noticeboard). On October 8th we have our Harvest festival at 2pm with Rob and on October 22nd Christine Lawley shares with us about her voluntary work overseas. Then on 29th October we will have a trip to High Legh Garden Centre for tea and scones. Do come and join us for these meetings.

On 7th October at 7.30pm in Room 6 we have a Pastoral Meeting, which is for all Pastoral Visitors and Home Group Leaders.

Our annual Thanksgiving Service for all those who have died during the last year will be on Sunday 3rd November at 7pm. During the worship we will be reading out a Roll of Honour for all those who have died. If you would like your loved ones name added to this please let me know.

As you will be aware Rob is also the Minister for Plumley Methodist. Last weekend was their Harvest festival and it was so lovely to see, on the Saturday for the Harvest Supper, a number of people from KMC supporting them. We really encourage this when they have events. On the first Saturday of each month Plumley holds a coffee morning from 10.30am-12pm. For October 5th we are raising money for GROW (the charity our son manages), so if you are free we would love to see you.

Cameo meets again on 27th October at 3.30pm so please do come along and bring anyone with you.

So enjoy walking in the last of the warm sunshine and kicking a few leaves, before we shut down the hatches for the arrival of winter and the season of Advent and Christmas!!
