“Thank you” to Carol from the Friendship Cafe

On behalf of the individuals who have attended the Friendship Café and the volunteers that have helped to make it happen over the last 3 and a half
years, I would like to thank Carol for firstly, her enthusiasm and commitment at the ideas stage.
Her compassionate involvement which stemmed from personal experience of dementia has been invaluable. Carol shared the vision of providing a
safe place for people with dementia and their carers, and worked hard to gather relevant information to help facilitate this. Carol has been a great support and help for everything that happens in the FC, always ready to give advice and share her love for this group of people.. We will miss you .

And just to update you on how things have been going over the last few months……… We have continued to support our friends from the café
through the buddy system where individual volunteers have kept in contact with a couple through phoning, shopping for them, visiting at a
safe distance or baking. This appears to have worked well from the feedback I have received.

The volunteers miss the Fridays as much as the folk who attend, and it is great that there is this ongoing relationship. As I hand delivered the hearts sent out from KMC it became apparent how much the Friendship Café is missed by the comments made. There was a huge appreciation of our thoughts and prayers as a church. Let’s hope it won’t be too long before we can all meet again on a Friday morning.
