Helping at The Welcome this Christmas (by Rev Sue Swires)

Help is needed at The Welcome from 21-23 December.
Christmas approaches, and God’s children, of all ages, are needy.
The Welcome, together with Hope Central, are working especially hard throughout December to collect food and gifts to ensure that every
family has the help they need to get through Christmas, knowing that someone cares.
This year is proving a bigger challenge than most, as the knock-on effects of poverty, ill-health, deprivation and insecurity become daily struggles for basic needs, such as most of us will never know. People, organisations, and local stores are consistently generous with donations, collected and sorted tirelessly day by day, and delivered to community people in desperate need through meals on wheels, and food boxes.
It takes but one delivery round to recognise the extent of need, the yearning for support through food to eat, as much as a real person to share a few words on a doorstep.
The Team need extra help, especially in the days running up to Christmas, so this message brings a plea, especially for sorters, packers, and delivery
drivers on 21st-23rd December.
If you are able to spare time to help, please contact me by email as soon as possible. Thank you for bringing Light and Hope to our community.
