With its new Chapel the Knutsford Wesleyan Methodist Society also sought to have, for the first time, its own resident Minister. The person appointed (1864-1866) was the Rev. Charles W. Prest.
It is noteworthy that in 1865 the Chapel's quarterly payments to the Circuit Stewards towards the minister's stipend amounted to £8 per annum. One century later (1965) the equivalent figure had increased by over a hundred-fold.
