KNUTSFORD PRAYER WALL BULLETIN No 50 -- February 2010
KNUTSFORD PRAYER-WALL BULLETIN No. 50
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
John 3:16
Prayers for our nation
• During this month, when love is famously celebrated (and all the images that go with that, wholesome or not), please pray that people will discover the true God of love, and get caught up in the greatest love affair of all time: of God for the world and all its people.
• For all our MP’s and prospective MP’s during the run-up to the election; that we would see more Christians and those who honour God being elected; for all Christians currently in parliament; for all party leaders at this crucial time.
• For the state of our nation; that good and wise decisions may be made, and that this year we may see a real turning to God for His direction.
• For the passage of the equalities Bill through parliament; that the changes requested by churches will be accepted, especially the clause which could make it unlawful for a church to require its minister to live according to the Bible’s teaching on sexual behaviour.
• About the rise of excessive political correctness that we are seeing at present, which is causing problems for many Christians in their workplaces.
• For marriage and family life to be on the agenda to be protected and upheld.
• For teachers, under increasing pressure, and finding their jobs increasingly difficult to do; that their rights may be protected as well as those of the children that they teach. For the freedom of faith schools, unhindered by state restrictions.
• For our Moslem communities; for an end to extremism (a vocal minority), and for the prevention of training of would-be terrorists. For those who come alongside Moslems; and that Moslems will not find themselves targeted by a hate campaign.
• For the ongoing response to Haiti; for the relief organisations and for supplies to get through – and not forgetting those who were directly affected by the disaster.
Prayers for our town & villages
• For our schools and for those who are facing major exams this year; that the Christian message and values may be taught. For the Open Book project, and all youth workers who are invited to share in assemblies, etc.
• For all youngsters applying for University & still awaiting the results of interviews & applications.
• For our local council; that it may make wise judgements that affect the whole of our community.
Prayers for our churches
• This is the month when the world focuses on love, but we are to continually focus on God’s love for us, and that He gave His Son for us. Please pray for those who don’t yet experience the glorious truth that it is relationship that God longs to have with us, not our religious rites and customs; not the outward trappings of religion, but our lives lived in communion with Him.
• We are God’s chosen people, His royal priesthood, a holy nation (1 Peter 2:9); yet how seriously do we take that most hallowed calling? Please pray that, as God’s people, we will – only by His grace and not by our own effort - live lives worthy of Him.
• Lent begins on Wednesday, 17th February; please pray that it will be a time when we may grow closer to God, and allow Him deeper into our lives; that we may continually be transformed by His love, until we radiate His love to others.
• For all our church fellowships in the town and villages; that we may show the love of Christ to all, and that, working together, we may make His saving grace known to all.
• For all our church leaders; that they may stay connected with God, and receive the guidance and wisdom that they need from Him; that they may continue to be faithful in proclaiming the gospel, and stand firm.
• Likewise for all lay preachers, youth workers, and those who preach the gospel, that they may remain true to their calling.
• For the Ecumenical Prayer Meetings on the final Wednesday evening of each month.
• For the Welcome: For the changes that will be taking place there; for the financing of the project; for the right person to apply for the Youth Worker appointment, who will be shared with KMC; and for the work that the Welcome does within the community, that greater links will be forged all the time.
• For KMC: For the right person to apply for the shared KMC/Welcome Youth Worker; for the Lenten group that will be meeting on a Tuesday morning.
• For the KFGC: For the Ladies’ Luncheon on Monday, 8th February; for the speaker, Jennifer Sturm from Texas; and all who will be attending; for the prayer walks taking place on Saturday mornings.
“Faith is taking the first step, even when you don’t see the whole staircase” – Martin Luther King Jr.
Thank you for praying – may God’s love surround you
each and every day
