New Year Letter from Rev Jackie Betts
New Year Letter from Rev Jackie Betts, Superintendent Minister
Wesley Cottage,
69 Faulkners Lane,
Mobberley.
December 2009
Dear Friends.
After my first four months as superintendent of the Alderley Edge and Knutsford Circuit I want to begin by thanking everyone for their welcome, for their prayers, and for the provision of Wesley Cottage as a lovely manse. A year ago I did not know where I would be living this Christmas but I thank God that I have come to this Circuit.
It has been good to begin to get to know the folks at Mobberley, Snelson and Over Peover, the chapels which are in my pastoral care and the communities in which they are placed. It has been challenging but rewarding to begin chaplaincy at the David Lewis centre. I am also enjoying the various opportunities to worship and work with the other churches in the Circuit - Alderley Edge, Knutsford, Mottram and at the Welcome. I am blessed by the support I receive from Paul and Ben, Alison and Mike, particularly at our regular staff meetings.
January will once more see all of us in the Circuit sharing in the annual covenant services - a reminder of all that God offers to us - an opportunity for us to have a fresh look at all we offer to him. One of the Bible passages I’ve been reflecting on recently is Matt 5. vv13-16. In the Message translation it talks about us being God colours and God flavours in our world.
Our churches, our families and friends, our communities, our country desperately need the God flavours and God colours - hope, peace, care, awareness of God’s love, courage, etc..
I hope and pray that as we move into a New Year as a Circuit we may be able to continue to go for growth and be God colours and God flavours in all the different areas of our everyday lives.
Every blessing,
Jackie.
