Lent is upon us and we’re already exploring what it means to take on the challenge of spiritual discovery.  We quickly decided that Lent is not just about depriving ourselves of something we really like, just for the sake of it.  Where would the holiness be in that?  But we’ve learnt that there is more to be gained in exploring what forces in this world we place before our relationship with God.  What things about us make us less Christ-like?  Sometimes this is not just about giving something up, but also taking something up; finding a mission.  The leadership team of the Welcome have dedicated themselves to ten minutes of prayer a day throughout Lent for the future of the project.

The coming few months are critical in the life of The Welcome.  We have applied to become a Community Interest Company and we have acquired a strong team of people to help us with our fundraising efforts.

As far as Church activity goes we are looking forward to celebrating Mothers’ Day, Easter and Pentecost as part of our messy café programme.  The youth work has expanded over the past couple of months as a team from Connexions now works on both Monday and Thursday evenings, and our next mission is to try to set up a group for those in the eight to twelve year-old range.  We need help to establish this, but are confident that our God has the resources to guide us.  We look forward to your continued prayers and support in the coming months.                                                           Mike

Shine in our lives, Lord, this and every day.

Fill our hearts with your love, Lord, now and in every way

Show me how to live, Lord, as I learn to be like you.
