Jesus isn't just for Christmas! by Dorothy Richards
Well, Christmas is over for another year! Have you packed all your decorations away; have all the presents been found a home? Each year I dismantle the tree, pack the nativity back into its box, go around the house gathering up all the decorations – like we all do – and once that is done I carry it all upstairs and put it back into store in the top of the wardrobe. Back downstairs, the first thing I see is a decoration which I've overlooked!
I read about one lady who deliberately leaves one Christmas decoration on display all year round to remind herself that even though Christmas has been packed away, the reason for Christmas remains – Jesus, the Light of the World, who remains with us eternally.
The following, part of a prayer letter I received, is a Christmas thought for all of us. It's worth meditating on.
'When the song of the angels is stilled, when the star in the sky is gone, when the kings and princes are home, when the shepherds are back with the flocks, then the work of Christmas begins:
to find the lost, to heal those broken in spirit, to feed the hungry, to release the oppressed, and to radiate the Light of Christ in all that we do and in all that we say. Then the work of Christmas begins'.
