The KMC Stewards met on 1st March to discuss when the KMC church should reopen. It was decided that, with the falling rate and prevalence of the virus in the community, KMC would open its doors again after the removal of the government advice to ‘Stay at Home’, which we hope will happen on the 29th March.
The Stewards are therefore planning to open for worship, with restricted numbers, from Good Friday (2nd April 2021), unless the risk or government advice changes in the meantime.
During Holy Week there will be opportunities for evening prayer online. In addition we will arrange a service on the premises for Good Friday and for Easter Sunday, with careful procedures in place to maintain social distancing etc.. In order to gauge the level of interest, and thus to determine whether more than one service on either day might be needed, it would be helpful if those wishing to attend either on Good Friday or on Easter Sunday would advise the church office asap..
The Stewards have agreed that weekly services should also take place every Sunday from 11th April and every Thursday lunchtime from 15th April (after shops are hoping to reopen). Start times, congregation capacity, service structure and COVID measures will be discussed further during March. Our weekly online KMC service will continue to take place every Sunday until, at least, 30th May inclusive.
The Stewards will review the situation and how services can operate from June onwards, at their next meetings on 14th April and 17th May.
