It is with deep sadness that I have to share the news that this week the Rev Scott Manning has requested permission from the President of Conference to resign as a Minister in the Methodist Church of Great Britain.
As a Circuit we have greatly benefitted from Scott’s ministry over the last 5 years and are profoundly disappointed that he will not be able to continue to serve the churches in our Circuit going forward. It is Scott’s intention to take up a new post with an independent Methodist Church on the 1st December 2021. There will be time for the Circuit to say a proper farewell to Scott in November and to bless him in his ministry as we recognise his servanthood and friendship within our Circuit. For now, we hold Scott, Jenny and their family in our prayers.
In the meantime, the Circuit Stewards and myself with the help of members from the Circuit invitations committee will be re-evaluating the ministerial needs across the churches and seeking a new minister for our future together. We also would value your prayers in the decisions we need to take and as we seek God’s wisdom and grace in making the right appointment.
Change always brings with it a heightened level of uncertainty and concern, but it also gives space for our faith to grow and for new opportunities to flourish. Scott’s leaving will be a challenge, but we also hope a time when we can all draw closer to Christ and see his kingdom growing among us.
With every blessing,
